The most impressive pay packets, not surprisingly, are for those in management positions, where the average weekly take-home pay is $1889.Demand right now If you have skills applicable to the automotive sector, your chances of getting a job are good. The Federal Government's Australian Jobs 2006 report indicates that skills in this area are in high demand.Hot specialist areas If you're a motor mechanic, your prospects are superb. Employers are looking for people with the ability to work on forklift, diesel and even marine engines, as well as standard family cars. With a tight labour market, salaries are on the rise. The industry remains male dominated, however, particularly in the panel beating, vehicle painting and vehicle body making areas, where more than 95 per cent of employees are male.Sources: Australian Jobs 2006, www.mycareer.com.au/jobs/-/automotive www.jobsearch.jobsinoz.com.au
